VH1′s Pop Queen Faceoff is underway, and the competition has been fierce. Everyone from Britney Spears to Janet Jackson to Madonna has battled it out for the top goddess spot. We’ll have the results for you soon, but we started thinking about what will happen if we do this competition again 10 years from now. Who will be the industry’s leading pop queens? It’s an interesting question, but we think we found the answer(s). These 10 ladies have made a solid impression on the pop scene and are swiftly making their way to queen status. Simply put, they’re the pop queens to-be.
Ariana Grande
Grande is pop’s resident darling diva (and rightfully so with two consecutive No.1 albums to her name). She’s got the talent, charisma and fan base to achieve the queen title. Let’s hope her reported bad diva behavior doesn’t get in the way.
Selena Gomez
As one of our runners-up, we have faith Gomez will continue to push out excellent pop music and leave a legacy all her own. She’s already a queen in her fans’ eyes, and if she pushes out more songs like “Come & Get It,” the world will follow suit.
Demi Lovato
The powerhouse vocalist has the chops to be a true pop icon, and with the success of 2013′s Demi, she’s getting close to the throne.
Hilary Duff
Just call her the comeback  (almost) queen. After a seven-year hiatus from music, Duff is back and badder than ever. If she keeps putting out new music, she’ll be pop royalty in no time.
Nicole Scherzinger
The sexy songstress has two excellent albums to her name (including this month’s Big Fat Lie). She has the moves and sparkly personality to make a pop queen. Give her a few more years, and we guarantee Scherzinger will set the music scene on fire.
Taylor Swift
While Swift was an original contender in our Pop Queen Faceoff, she didn’t make the final cut. We think it’s because she has a few more things to do before joining the Gagas of the world. Her fresh-out-the-oven album 1989 is Swift’s first official foray into the pop scene. With this declaration, Swift has laid the foundation to become the decade’s next ultimate queen.
Cher Lloyd
With her hit 2012 single “Want U Back” and killer featured verse on Lovato’s “Really Don’t Care,” Lloyd might be the pop queen you didn’t see coming.
Jessie J
“Domino” was our favorite song of 2011, and Jessie J is now making a huge splash with “Bang Bang” alongside Grande and Nicki Minaj. And with that unmatchable voice, there’s nothing stopping her from slaying us all
Lorde
At 17 and with only one album to her name, Lorde has the success most musicians only dream of (she has two Grammy awards already!). There’s no stopping this New Zealand girl from pop domination. Her first single was called “Royals,” after all.
Lana Del Rey
The Ultraviolence crooner has a unique flare and diehard fan base. If she keeps it up, Rey has the tools to turn her “summertime sadness” into a career with longevity.
